Lawrence Rotary - Chris Boshar Events

Lawrence Rotarians are rallying around Chris and his Mom, Kathy, who is a long-time member of the Lawrence Rotary. Kathy's 25 year old son, Christopher Boshar suffered a spinal cord injury on July 2, 2011. Read the article in Lowell Sun here.

Here is a note from Kathy's Sister, Pam:

Both Kathy and Chris are now in Atlanta, GA. He was transferred to the Shepherd Center which specializes in Spinal Cord injuries at the end of July. He is currently paralyzed from the chest down but we believe that with prayers, love and the best care, he will beat all odds. He has a long tough journey ahead.

The estimate of cost for care for those with spinal cord injuries at Christopher's injury level in the first year can be close to $1,000,000 according to the Dana & Christopher Reeve Foundation website. Very little of that amount will be covered by insurance.

While no family wants to ask for help - especially financial help - the level of Christopher's injury has caused family and friends to reach out and ask for and accept help. The monies collected will help provide comfort, medical equipment and therapy for Christopher to bring him to recovery.

We are running a fundraising event for him on Friday 9/16 from 7:30 to 11:30 at Lenzi's Function Hall in Dracut (see attached flyer). Tickets are $25 per person, which will include light appetizers, music and an entry in a door prize. There will also be a Silent Auction. Many silent auction items will be posted on his website beginning September 2, 2011.

I am hoping that all of you will consider buying a ticket and attending the event to help support my nephew, but even if you can't attend, just purchasing a ticket will help get us that much closer to raising the funds that he so desperately needs to help him while he deals with this tragic injury.

Thank you in advance for your support. This is the hardest thing our family has ever gone thru. It is heartbreaking. He has a long road ahead but we all believe that miracles happen every day and that Chris will be one of them. We ask that you keep Christopher in your prayers. (and Kathy too).

On August 29, 2011, out club held its Annual Golf Tournament and Fund Raising Dinner in support of Chris.
